Note, if building against homebrew-installed sqlite on OS X you can do: npm install -build-from-source -sqlite= /usr/ local/opt/sqlite/ By default the node-gyp install will use python as part of the installation. A different python executable can be specified on the command line. Npm install -build-from-source -python= /usr/ bin/python2. I was interested in playing with the JSON extension to SQLite.This allows you to query data stored as JSON in a similar fashionto document storage databases. This excellent article by Charles Leifer goes in depth into this. He compiles allthe parts from source. I was wondering could I skip the compilationand just use homebrew? Turns out theanswer is yes!

Now we need to setup the links to sqlite3 libs and includes sopip can build pysqliteand find the extensions. To do this add the following to your.pydistutils.cfg file.
